WILD HANN JIVIN' IN THE DARK Knoxville Track Club Treadin' Trodden Trails 8:45 pm at the Anderson School Trailhead - Urban Wilderness Once again we offer a new take on another Urban Wilderness race for 2016. Our inaugural night race last October was an exciting affair, made all the more so by a line of thundershowers that roared through just after the start of the race. Race Director Andrea Ludwig promises there won't be a repeat of those particular challenges, but she will come up with a few new ones to go with the nocturnal trail conditions. Being a spring race rather than fall, we'll head into the woods at the odd hour of 8:45, eleven minutes after sunset, for a six mile tour of the Helix section of the Urban Wilderness. And although the course will be unusually well marked, it will not be illuminated, so runners will be required to carry a flashlight or wear a headlamp. A 1.0-mile Kids Trail Race will precede the adult race, and because it will start just a few minutes before sunset, twilight will fall as the kiddos hit the trail. The course will traverse an out'n'back section of the Lost Chromosome trail and offer the youngsters a taste of the fun the adults will be having thirty minutes later. And the kids race is only five bucks (ten if you want a shirt just like the grownups!).
